Under the aegis of The Institution of Engineers (India)- Research and Development Committee(IEI-RDC), campus reach-out programs were conducted on August 12, 2011 and August 24, 2011 at Mangalore and Coimbatore respectively. At Mangalore in total, about 450 students from 25 colleges participated in the program held at Shree Devi Institute of technology.
Presentations were given by Dr. U. Chandrasekhar Chairman-RDC, Prof. C. C. Ramesh, PESIT, Mr. Prithviraj, NIT-Suratkal and Mr. K. Balaraju, CEO, Bodh Bridge, IIT-Chennai on contemporary topics such as Digital Manufacturing, Nano Technologies, Micro Air Vehicles, Space Research Programs, Internet Security and Engineering Analysis. Prof. Dr. K E Prakash, Principal, Shree Devi Institute of technology graced the program and gave the Presidential address on the important role being played by IE(I) in furtherance of R&D activities in engineering institutions. At Coimbatore in total, about 220 students from 15 colleges participated in the program held at RVS College of Engineering and technology. Dr. U. Chandrasekhar Chairman-RDC, Prof. C. S. Ramesh, PESIT, Mr. Ashish, IIT-Kanpur and Mr. K. Balaraju, CEO, Bodh Bridge, IIT-Chennai addressed the gathering.
The Principal - RVSCETC, also graced the program. Primary intentions of the programs were providing an insight into contemporary engineering projects of multidisciplinary nature to engineering students at UG, PG and PhD levels. One of the important objectives of these programs were to popularize the IE(I) grant-in-aid scheme among the engineering campuses. Dr. U. Chandrasekhar informed the audience that a Pico Satellite is proposed to be developed under the aegis of IEI through collaboration among multiple engineering colleges and technical universities under the mentorship of Dr. U. Chandrasekhar to educate the engineering students to the mission-mode space research programs. These programs were well received by all the participants and enthusiastic interactions were the features of these programs in both the places.
