Info About Two Year Extension in AMIE Exam Registrations

The Institution of Engineers(India) offering 6 years validity of Institution ID card from the date of registration for both T and ST member of the institution , if any T or ST member unable to clear section A or B examination within 6 year then those member can apply for two extension according to rule of extension.

As we knows that The Institution of Engineers( India) introduced new scheme from summer 2005 but some candidates are in transitory block i.e., candidates in old scheme secured exemption in one or more subjects, were unable to switchover to revised scheme within the stipulated period in 2005, citing different reasons. They are not interested in passing some subjects in old scheme and some in revised scheme. Now, they have shown interest to appear in Section A/Section B examination afresh in revised scheme, forfeiting their subject(s) exemption in old scheme.
Students who have transferred to the revised scheme in 2005 either in Section A or Section B by making a payment of Rs. 400.00 or due to not having any exemptions in subjects in the old scheme will not be entitled to the two year time extension. However, the students who had obtained exceptions in at least one subject in Section A or B, and who are facing the examinations by opting for the subjects in the revised scheme will be eligible and be included for two year time extension for examination registrations. These are students who are considered to be remaining in transitory blocks.  Such students will only be able to get a time extension for a period of two years if they are not successful in getting through their Section A or B examinations before the term of 2009 and within their registration period of six years.  For Section A students their time period of registration will commence on the date of his nomination as a technical member or senior technical member. The six year registration period will begin on the date of passing the Section A examination for the students of Section B. However the period excludes the minimum time period of six months a student is allocated for their project and laboratory work. Therefore students who got through the Section A examinations during the 2002 will only be eligible to apply for a lengthening of time period in this year for examination registration.

The students who will be considered as eligible for the time extension to get their examination registration can obtain the relevant application form from the Head office of the Institute along with the respective identity card format. The students should return the duly filled application form together with the relevant fee of Rs. 600.00 in demand draft or $ 600 for students overseas. The demand draft should be payable to the Institute of Engineers (India). If the student has undergone a change in the postal address that was given earlier to the Institute the new address should also be submitted at the same time along with the student Pin Code filled in the appropriate space in the application form. The Institute will not entertain any late receipts and students should make a note to send in their applications with in the stipulated time frame. The council retains the right to refuse any application that does not meet the prescribed form.
