The 665th meeting of the Council of IEI hosted by the Bhilai Local Centre of the Institution was held at Bhilai Niwas, Bhilai Steel Plant, during June 24-26, 2011 along with the Meetings of other important Committees. Mr G Prabhakar, President, IEI, presided over the meeting which was attended by Mr Madan Lal, Rear Admiral K O Thakare, Mr R P Gupta, Past Presidents; Mr V L Malhotra and Mr P K Maity, Vice Presidents along with distinguished Council Members.
The meeting was coordinated by Maj Gen R K Sanan, VSM (Retd), Secretary & Director General of the Institution. On June 24, 2011, important Engineering Division Boards Meetings
along with other Committee meetings were held. On the same day, a special event ‘Bhilai Engineers Meet’ was organized where engineers in and around Bhilai and Raipur were invited with the objective to share their experience and views in a commonplatform. Maj Gen R K Sanan, VSM (Retd), highlighted various
Activities of the Institution and appealed to the engineers to become the member of this august body. In this respect, he requested Mr M K Bindu, Executive Director In- Charge (Mines) who attended the meet on
behalf of Executive Director, Bhilai Steel Plant, to consider the r e i m b u r s e m e n t o f membership fees for their employees. The Council, the final decision making body of the Institution, met in the afternoon on June 25, 2011. The C o u n c i l c o n s i d e r e d v a r i o u s recommendations of Committee for Advancement of Technology & Engineering (CATE), Finance Committee and other Committees and deliberated on various important issues like the Engineers’ Bill, Indian Engineering Congress, future plan of the Institution, etc. Earlier, Mr M D Agrawal, Chairman of the Bhilai Local Centre welcomed the august gathering. Mr T V Lonappan, Honorary Secretary of the Centre, proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting concluded with National Anthem on June 26, 2011.
