The... Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) founded in 1987 comprises India’s most distinguished engineers, engineer-scientists and technologists covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines, and functions as an apex body to promote and advance the practice of engineering and technology and the related sciences and disciplines in India and their application to problems of national importance.
Among the aims and objects of the Academy are:

to encourage and promote the pursuit of excellence in the field of ‘Engineering’;
bullet
to offer the Govt.of India, the local Governments and others, the views of engineers in co-operation with other professional bodies in regard to all matters pertaining to ‘Engineering’;
bullet
to promote the National Policy on Education of the Govt. of India;
bullet
to present at all academic forums, the research and development activities on engineering on mutual interactive and cooperative basis both in India and abroad;
bullet
to encourage inventions, investigations and research and promote their applications for development of both organised and unorganised sectors of national economy;
bullet
to institute and establish Professorships, Fellowships, Studentships, Scholarships, Awards and other benefactions;
bullet
to interact with Professional Bodies, Engineering and Scientific Academies etc. in India and abroad.
 
The Academy is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and is an autonomous institution supported partly through grant-in-aid by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
As the only engineering Academy of the country, INAE represents India at the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS).

Benefactions to the Academy

To carry out its aims and objects, the Academy relies, for a major part, on financial support from project funds, contributions and sponsorship. It has been possible to undertake a range of activities by the generosity of the benefactors.
The Academy welcomes donations from individuals, corporations and sponsors.

Purpose
Donations or bequests can be applied to any purpose that is consistent with the Academy’s aims and objects.
The Academy welcomes benefactions which encourage and promote the pursuit of excellence in the field of ‘Engineering’, inventions, investigations, research oriented applications, Professorships and awards etc.

Tax Deductibility
Donations to the Indian National Academy of Engineering are tax deductible under Section 35(1)(ii) of the Income Tax Act 1961 and the Academy is exempted from paying income-tax under Section 12A(a) of the Income Tax Act 1961.

Recognition
All benefactions are acknowledged in the Academy Annual Report.
The Academy will be pleased to clarify any queries and help provide appropriate expertise that can define a useful purpose for any benefaction.


INDIAN NATIONAL ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING (INAE) is an autonomous institution partly supported by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India to encourage and promote the pursuit of excellence in the field of 'Engineering'. It comprises India's most distinguished engineers, engineer-scientists and technologists covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines. Nominations for the following Awards/Scheme are invited in the stipulated format contained in INAE website www.inae.org.

1. INAE YOUNG ENGINEER AWARD 2011. Young engineers from Academia, Government, R&D Laboratories, Industry and Defence Services having age not more than 35 years as on Ist Jan, 2011 are eligible for nomination. The criteria for the award is Engineering research, excellence in engineering design, technology development and technology transfer which should have been carried out totally in India. The sponsor must be a Fellow of INAE or Head of the Organization/Institution where the nominee is working. The award shall consist of a citation and Rs 1 Lakh in cash. The last date of receipt of

nominations is May 31, 2011.

2. INNOVATIVE STUDENT PROJECTS AWARD 2011. Nominations are invited from Deans/Head of Engineering Institutions for projects/theses at Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral levels for assessing their innovative potential. and intrinsic merit. Not more than two best projects/theses in each of major engineering disciplines, at each level for B.E./B.Tech projects completed upto May 31 during the academic year 2010-2011; M.E./M.Tech theses examined upto May 31, 2011 and Ph.D. theses examined and accepted/recommended for Award upto May 31, 2011, may be nominated by an engineering institution for consideration for the award. The award in each of the three categories will consist of a certificate and Rs.10,000/-. The last date of receipt of
nominations is June 30, 2011.


3. AICTE- INAE DISTINGUISHED VISITING PROFESSORSHIP SCHEME. In order to enhance Academia-Industry interaction, INAE jointly with AICTE launched a Distinguished Visiting Professorship (DVP) Scheme during the year 1999. The Scheme envisages promotion of industry-institute interaction by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge through the expertise of experienced persons from industry to integrate their rich industrial experience with technical education. Nominations are invited from the Industry and R&D Labs. The Distinguished Visiting Professor will be reimbursed air fare to the Engineering
Institutions; an honorarium of Rs. 3000/- per lecture day plus incidental charges. The last
date of receipt of nominations is April 30, 2011.
