Frequently Asked Question Regarding Old Membership

1.My six year period has ended in Summer 2011. Can I get 2 years extension? I have already passed three subjects in Section A.
No two year extension for new scheme students (students enrolled in and after 2005). You should go for re-registration. All passed subjects will be cancelled. There is no other way.


You have to send (i) reregistration form with requisite fee (ii) registration for section B form with requisite fee (if passed section A) (iii) change of address form (if your recorded address has been changed) with requisite fee.

2.Please elaborate me on re-registration/premature registration after six year period.

3.I have already completed the six years of AMIE Sec A.Now what will be the procedure to get the two years extention.
For extension of two years, you will get form from IEI, Kolkata. For more details clcik here 

4.My six year period is expiring now. Will I get extension of two years?
It depends on whether your membership is new or old.
For old membership (before 2005) you will be given exemption. For new (2005 and onward) you have to reregister. However if you not passed any subject before Winter 2005 then your six year period will be counted from Summer 2006.


5.Will my passed out subjects be cancelled after reregistration?
Yes. You have to appear in all the subjects in respective section after reregistration.


6.Please tell me validity of membership number.
Membership number is valid for six years for Section A, and another six years for section B. This period will be counted from date of election.


7.I took admission in AMIE in year 2000 but could not appear in any exam till date. Am I eligible to appear Exam and what is the max time limit for me to complete section-A Exam?
A case of old membership. The Section 'A' candidates, who fail to secure exemption in any subject up to and including Winter 2005 Examination, are required to appear in the revised scheme w.e.f. Summer 2006 Examination without paying processing fee of Rs. 400/-.


The Section 'B' candidates, who fail to secure exemption in any subject up to and including Winter 2005 Examination, are required to appear in the revised scheme, forfeiting their earlier project work after submission of Application for Registration of Section 'B' with requisite fee of Rs. 2000/- only.

Selection of Balance Subjects in Revised Scheme

All candidates appeared up to and including Winter 2005 Examination in old scheme are essentially required to opt balance subjects from Revised Scheme to appear from Summer 2006 Examination.
