Mr S L Garg, President, IEI, addressing the gathering The West Bengal State Centre of the Institution felicitated Mr S L Garg, President, IEI, at Sir R N Mookerjee Auditorium of the Centre on January 04, 2012, amidst the presence of a large number of dignitaries. At the outset, Mr Archan Kusum
Majumdar, Chairman of the Centre, welcomed President and other Honourable Council and Corporate Members present. President, while
addressing the august gathering highlighted various issues of the institution including Examination, Membership Growth and R&D activities of IEI, which, he added will be addressed on priority basis.
He also mentioned that Local Centres of the Institution should organize more technical activities which in turn would strengthen the State Centres. Mr Garg also felt that the R&D efforts initiated by the Institution
are going in the right direction although there is further scope of
improvement. Prof (Dr) Samiran Choudhuri, Past President, IEI and
Prof (Dr) N R Bandyopadhyay, Council Member, IEI, also spoke on
the occasion. Prof Choudhuri, in his address, highlighted the valuable
contributions of Mr Garg towards the development of the Institution and expressed hope that Institution will scale new heights under his able leadership. Prof Bandyopadhyay, highlighted the role of the Institution, in propagating the cause of engineering science and technology for society during its 92 years of journey keeping pace with the development and hoped that under the new President, it would flourish further. Distinguished Council Members, Corporate Members of the State Centre, along with Maj Gen R K Sanan, VSM (Retd), Secretary &
Director General, IEI, attended the felicitation program. Mr Nirmal Kr Das, Honorary Secretary of the Centre, proposed the vote of thanks.
