1.What is difference among reference number, registration number and membership number?
Registration number and reference numbers are same. Registration/reference number (example: 090200431110) is valid till you get membership number (ex: ST524786-7).

2.Interactive Help desk at IEI
In order to give better and timely service to our T/ST and other members, the Institution has implemented Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) at IEI

Existing T/ST/Associate/Corporate members of the Institution interested to know the roll number/examination results/ payment details or any other queries related to Examination/Membership may dial the number 033 4015 5400.

Members are to key-in 7 digit membership number and first 11 digits of the reference number received through sms or letter from IEI (as applicable) and follow the instruction as sounded by the system.

3.My six year period has ended in Summer 2011. Can I get 2 years extension? I have already passed three subjects in Section A.
No two year extension for new scheme students (students enrolled in and after 2005). You should go for re-registration. All passed subjects will be cancelled. There is no other way.

You have to send (i) reregistration form with requisite fee (ii) registration for section B form with requisite fee (if passed section A) (iii) change of address form (if your recorded address has been changed) with requisite fee.


4.I did not receive my membership no. but I received books and all documents from IEI, Kolkata.
If you do not find letter of election in the kit, then please look at your address printed on the envelope. Your membership number (like ST XXXXXX-X or T-XXXXX-X, where X is number) will be printed above your address.

5.How can I know that my registration is accepted & notified?
You will get an SMS from IEI stating your ref number. After finalization of membership you will get another SMS from IEI. Membership process takes at least 90 to 120 days.

6.Yesterday I received a reference number 10020083123. Does it mean that I have got membership?
No. This number is actually an acknowledgement number for future correspondence/inquiry. Membership process takes at least 75 to 90 days time.

7.I have registered for AMIE. I haven't received my membership number. Can I apply for your postal courses without quoting membership number?
You can join our postal preparatory course any time without quoting your membership number.

8.I have received membership number but not identity card and other documents. Can I apply for exams?
Yes, you can apply for forthcoming exams. Provided your date of election is Aug 31 (for latest Winter exam) or Feb 28 (for latest Summer exam).

Just fill the exam form (in the period prescribed, Generally Feb 15 to April 20 for Summer and Aug 16 to Oct 20 for Winter exams). Send this exam form with DD of requisite fee by speed post (as you can track speed post, do not send this by private courier service). Keep a Xerox of exam form and DD in your records (as safety measure).

Your identity card/other docs etc will come late.

9.I have sent my application form along with membership fee three months back. But I have not received my registration number till now. So, kindly inform me the status of my registration number.
After about 75 days of sending membership form, do the following:
