Tricks For Re-energizing Your Mind During Exams

There’s no greater stress a student can experience than that of an annual exam lurking around the corner. Cold sweats and fervent anxiety attacks are commonplace. And if luck isn’t on your side, the school or university will surely schedule your papers on consecutive days. Here are a few tips on how to get back into that instant studying mode for your next paper in those trying times.

1. Detach

When you get back home from an exam, stay as far away from your studying material as you can, especially of the paper that you have just given. Detach yourself from whatever thoughts, information or regrets you have regarding your last exam by indulging in quick breathing exercises or yoga or meditation.

2. Rejuvenate

While studying, taking really short and quick breaks, say once in every two hours are essential for refreshing and rejuvenating your mind. Engage in quick activities like watching TV for 5 minutes, playing with your pet, playing your favourite instrument or listening to music to erase stress and anxiety.

3. Sleep

Sleep has magical powers. Even just a couple of hours of sleep can work wonders for your mind. A quick power nap after you’ve returned from your exam allows your grey cells to rest and rejuvenate, so that you’re completely refreshed when you’re back at the table.

4. Eat smart

Pay specific attention to what you eat during exams. Your diet plays a very huge role in deciding your attention span, levels of concentration and consequently affects how much and how well you are able to study. Choose light but healthy foods (such as a fruit instead of potato chips) to munch on while you study. The greater the fat and oil content in your snacks, more you’ll feel lethargic and sleepy.

5. Studying to boost morale

Always begin with the topics that you know best or ones that you have done before. This will instil positivity in you about how much you are left with on your syllabus sheet. The happier the mind, the better and faster you will absorb.
